RODRIGUEZ, RIZAL — Besides people, animals from zoos have also been affected by the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Without guests, the budget for zoo animals’ food has been slashed as well.
This is what is happening in Avilon Zoo in Barrio San Isidro, Rodriguez, Rizal.
“Since March, closed ang zoo so wala kaming income coming from our guests. Kulang kami sa budget at whatever donation na nakukuha namin galing from companies, malaki talaga siyang tulong,” said Avilon Zoo assistant administrator Stephanie Hoven.

As part of the 23rd anniversary celebration of Bounty Agro Ventures, Inc. (BAVI), Uling Roasters donated 2,000-kilos of dressed chicken to feed the 3,000 animals housed inside.
Besides this, the staff of Avilon Zoo were also given chicken as they too are frontliners in this ongoing battle.

“Napakahalaga ng tulong ng Bounty Agro Ventures, Inc. Na-lessen yung expenses ng zoo lalo na sa food supply,” expressed assistant tour coordinator Almario Nierre.

“Masaya ang management dahil hindi lang tao ang natutulungan ng Bounty Agro Ventures, pati yung mga animals natutulungan nila.
“In the coming days, expect more frontliners to be helped out by BAVI and its president Ronald Mascariñas as the company celebrates “Astonishingly Healthy at 23.”
