While we are cheering on our heroes in hospitals and checkpoints, some less visible people are also working heroically to serve all Filipinos in these difficult times: frontliners in the food industry.
Today we start a series of “appreciation posts” for the various BAVI teams that keep the company thrive (and the public well fed) in this extraordinary time.

FEED MILLING TEAM
Our feed milling personnel ensure that our poultry farms still get their usual supply of high-quality feeds. Their primordial importance in the company has never been more apparent.
That is why feed mill coordinator Thom Delacion, 34, gets up early to hitch a ride with trucks that go to his assigned feed mill in Padre Garcia, Batangas.
“Traveling to and from work has become challenging, because public transportation is now banned,” he said. “You have to be resourceful.”
Meanwhile at the feed mill — where heightened biosecurity and safety protocols are implemented — workers show up daily and work to produce their usual output.
Once the feeds are produced, truckers begin their arduous journey throughout the southern Tagalog region — sometimes including Bicol — where roads are blocked by several checkpoints. Recognizing that these stops are necessary to contain COVID-19, the truckers go on to reach their destinations patiently. Then they would hurry back home so as not to get stranded by any curfew.
While our feed milling personnel across the country strictly practice safety measures against infections, they carry out their duty daily, happy to be of service to all Filipinos.
Salamat po sa inyong serbisyo at sakripisyo — kayo ay tunay na mga Manok ng Bayan!
