TAGUIG CITY — Tricycle drivers at Pamayanang Diego Silang were in for a treat from Uling Roasters, Friday.
The rotisserie chicken chain gave the tricycle drivers dozens of its famous charcoal-roasted chicken.
Even with the general community quarantine in effect throughout Metro Manila, the ‘trike’ drivers’ livelihood is still badly affected.
“Twenty percent lang [ng mga tricyle] ang nakakabiyahe araw-araw. Bukod pa doon, nabawasan pa ang aming pasahero from 6 to 2,” said Norman Dimaculangan, the tricycle drivers’ association president.
When Dimaculangan heard about Uling Roasters’ assistance, he and his group welcomed it gratefully.
“Maraming salamat po sa Uling Roasters, lalo na kay [BAVI President] Boss Ronald Mascariñas,” he said. “Hindi n’yo lang alam kung gaano kami natulungan ng handog ninyo sa amin.”
Throughout the period of lockdown that the Philippines is going through, Bounty Agro Ventures, Inc. (BAVI), has been giving support to vulnerable communities.
With the volume of chicken the company has distributed, over 400,000 people could be fed.
According to Mascariñas, BAVI always strives to support those who need help, especially in this trying time.
