Bounty Agro Ventures, Inc. (BAVI) President Ronald Mascariñas won this year’s University of the Philippines Los Baños Alumni Association (UPLBAA) Outstanding Alumni Award for Agricultural Entrepreneurship.
He was cited for leading BAVI to become the number-one rotisserie chicken company in the Philippines, with its revolutionary brand Chooks-to-Go.
In his award citation, Mascariñas is described as a “game changer”, who introduced Chooks-to-Go, which has become “the market leader in the roasted chicken category…providing affordable, convenient, and pleasing experience for the consumers.”
He was also commended on his work to create jobs for Filipinos:
“BAVI is providing employment to a thousand strong workforce, plus more than 3,000 crew members and thousands more to the people who support the fully integrated chicken business both directly and indirectly. The integrated process — from farm to dinner table — provides sustainable and decent jobs to thousands of people, their families and dependents nationwide and hopefully improve their lives in the future.”
The awarding ceremony was held during the university’s 101st Loyalty Day at Baker Hall, UP Los Baños, October 9. More than 300 alumni and university officials attended the event.
