Amid their busy schedule, the employees of Bounty Agro Ventures Inc., students and staff of the University of the Philippines, and Gilas Pilipinas got together for the first television commercial for Chooks-to-Go Gilas Pilipinas, which was produced by Melmac Sports for Chooks-to-Go.
The commercial itself promotes how the fight of Gilas Pilipinas is the fight of every Filipino and how a select group of basketball players inspire a new generation and give hope to the masses.
As serious as the commercial looks, the process itself was light and filled with laughter.
The first day of the shoot happened on January 9 at the UP Village. With the employees of BAVI being the protagonists, company President Ronald Mascariñas made sure that they enjoyed the once-in-a-lifetime moment.
“The commercial is very dramatic but behind the scenes, we made sure that everyone involved enjoyed it,” said Mascariñas, who himself was also involved in the conceptualization of the commercial. “It was like a huge party when the cameras stopped rolling.”
For the second half of the shoot, Gilas pool members Terrence Romeo, Calvin Abueva, Troy Rosario, Mac Belo, Russel Escoto and Matthew Wright and Gilas Head Coach Chot Reyes were given the spotlight. The shoot was held at Gold’s Gym, Sheridan in Mandaluyong.
The shoot itself went by fast as the players were given the freedom to do whatever they wanted. And once they got it going, there was no stopping them.
From Romeo showcasing his uncanny dribbling to Rosario showcasing his power with his trademark jam and even Abueva’s humor, everything just came together in an instant.
But what the Gilas players enjoyed most were the breaks as they feasted on Chooks-to-Go, ang manok na Masarap Kahit Walang Sauce. Even Abueva and Romeo admitted that they have been certified Chooks lovers since 2009.
Without further ado, here is a montage of the BTS of the Chooks-to-Go Gilas Pilipinas commercial.
